Project: Bringing school supplies to the local children wherever we journey Support: Educational development
Young philanthropists Joshua (9) and Benjamin (7) had the idea of dipping into their piggy banks and buying school supplies for the children of Rio Blanco when they heard of AlliancExchange’s mission to Ecuador. During their summer vacation they bought more than 100 fancy pencils and art supplies. Subsequently, with donations from other friends of the project and fellow travelers, hundreds of items, including pencils, pens, paper, crayons and stickers were donated to three schools in Ecuador during our trip in September 2003. Thanks, Joshua and Ben, for being the inspiration behind this project. AlliancExchange plans to continue this initiative when visiting communities in need. Project recipients included:
The Rio Blanco Community School Rio Blanco, Napo Province, Ecuador 48 students
Hanan Urin Monatanita, Ecuador 20 students
Quechua-Spanish Bilingual School Quito, Ecuador 50 students |
